Rotary District 5110 Conference Highlights

The 2011 District Conference was a great success. Rotary International President, Ray Klinginsmith, visited the conference on the final Sunday. In his address to the audience, Mr. Klinginsmith expressed, “…adding the fifth Avenue of Service will facilitate our quest to make the youth and young adult programs even Bigger, Better, and Bolder in the future.”   The Group Study Exchange (GSE) teams from Peru and Italy had a chance to visit with RI President Klinginsmith. Both teams at the District Conference provided Rotarians a great opportunity to learn about their country....

District 5110 February Newsletter Now Available

February is World Understanding Month! This month includes the anniversary of the first meeting of Rotary, which was held on February 23, 1905, and is now designated World Understanding and Peace Day. This month’s newsletter also includes information about the 2011 District 5110 Conference at The Mill Casino Hotel & RV Park in North Bend from April 28 to May 1. After receiving close to a half  million dollars from family friends and Oregon-based Angel Investors for her start-up Web site, Caroline Cummings has learned the importance of extra help and being an entrepreneur. Cummings has plenty of experience in the realm of entrepreneurship. She is the co-founder of Smart-ups, an entrepreneurial support group in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, which is a local chapter of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN) based in Portland, OR. May 29 – 31, Eugene will host the annual district conference. With some terrific speakers lined up, it’s a must see for all local Rotarians.
