Rotary Committed To Water and Sanitation Issues

This week’s Photo Friday features a new pump provided by the International H2O Collaboration at a launch ceremony in Ghana in May. The International H2O Collaboration is a partnership between Rotary International and the U.S Agency For International Development (USAID). Launched in 2009, the International H2O Collaboration works to implement long-term, sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in the developing world. 2011 Auction Raises More Than $25,000 in Scholarships

On Friday, February 25, the Eugene Airport Rotary hosted its annual auction to raise funds for deserving high school seniors to attend college. Thanks to your generous support this year, our club will distribute more than $25,000 in scholarships. This brings our total scholarship distribution to $222,600, helping about 213 students over 15 years. Scholarship recipients are able to renew their funds up to three times during their college career. At this week’s meeting our club recognized the fourth graders of Irving Elementary School, who raised $500 for Polio Plus through a penny drive held at school. This precocious group challenged us to match their efforts and Airport Rotarians rose to the occasion. We not only matched it, we raised $1516 to send Rotary International for Polio Plus. This donation wouldn’t be possible without the fourth graders of Irving Elementary School and other Rotarians, who helped us reach our goal. Beer and Brats in the Sun

Every year, the Eugene Airport Rotary spends a hot August weekend serving beer and brats to visitors at the Junction City Scandinavian Festival. Our members come out in force, along with friends and family, to fill shifts across Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (and to set up/clean up). It’s a lot of work! Ruckus Presents Big Boys Toys Show in Junction City

On Friday, Sept. 4 – Sunday Sept. 6, 2009, hot rods, roadsters, cars, motorcycles, 4×4s, and rock crawlers are gathering in Junction City to celebrate the Labor Day weekend.  The first annual Big Boys Toys Show in Junction City will consist of concerts, such as Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts, cars show ‘n shine, and motorcycle show ‘n shine.  The 4×4 tough truck competitions, rock crawler competitions, 4×4 and truck show ‘n shine, and RC Crawler competitions will be held in Harrisburg.   Eugene Airport Rotary will be taking part in the festivities by serving beer at the show in Junction...

Community Event: The Great Rotary Duck Race Kicks Off in Eugene

The Great Rotary Duck Race, which benefits agencies that fight child abuse, will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 10, 2009 at Alton Baker Park in Eugene, Ore. For the past 20 years, Rotarians are responsible for sponsoring, promoting and selling 811,046 Ducks at $5 each. Since 1988, local Rotarians have raised over $4 million to combat child abuse. 2009 Rotary Duck Race proceeds will benefit the following agencies: Family Relief Nursery – Cottage Grove, Heart Gallery of Lane County, Direction Service Willamette Family Treatment, and Committed Partners for Youth. Community Event: First Friday Art Walk

First Friday Art Walk will take place June 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Modern-Store, 207 E 5th Ave. The Art Walk will continue at Fenario Gallery, White Lotus Gallery, Jacobs Gallery, and end at Opus6ix.
