2011 Auction Raises More Than $25,000 in Scholarships

On Friday, February 25, the Eugene Airport Rotary hosted its annual auction to raise funds for deserving high school seniors to attend college. Thanks to your generous support this year, our club will distribute more than $25,000 in scholarships. This brings our total scholarship distribution to $222,600, helping about 213 students over 15 years. Scholarship recipients are able to renew their funds up to three times during their college career. At this week’s meeting our club recognized the fourth graders of Irving Elementary School, who raised $500 for Polio Plus through a penny drive held at school. This precocious group challenged us to match their efforts and Airport Rotarians rose to the occasion. We not only matched it, we raised $1516 to send Rotary International for Polio Plus. This donation wouldn’t be possible without the fourth graders of Irving Elementary School and other Rotarians, who helped us reach our goal.
