Local Artist and Rotarian Hanna Hagen will be holding a ceramic painting event from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2009 to support the Rotary Volunteer Service Team to Africa in Jan. 2010.
The event will be $10 a person, which covers a ceramic bowl, refreshments, and much more fun!

On Friday, Sept. 4 – Sunday Sept. 6, 2009, hot rods, roadsters, cars, motorcycles, 4×4s, and rock crawlers are gathering in Junction City to celebrate the Labor Day weekend.
The first annual Big Boys Toys Show in Junction City will consist of concerts, such as Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts, cars show ‘n shine, and motorcycle show ‘n shine. The 4×4 tough truck competitions, rock crawler competitions, 4×4 and truck show ‘n shine, and RC Crawler competitions will be held in Harrisburg.

Sam Clifton, a Missouri Rotarian, takes the lead on the hit reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
More than 600 skilled laborers volunteered to help build a 3,300-square-foot home in just six days starting July 14.

Districts in Taiwan are coordinating relief efforts after Typhoon Morakot caused massive destruction Aug. 7-9, which killed an estimated 500 people and caused the U.S. 1.5 billion in damage.

Junction City is transforming its downtown area into an old world town to celebrate Scandinavian heritage from Aug. 13 – 16, 2009.
The Junction City Scandinavian Festival offers cultural entertainment such as numerous handicrafts, colorful costumes, storytelling, folk dancing, choral and instrument groups, stage events, and much more.
The Junction City Scandinavian Festival is one of two big fundraisers for Eugene Airport Rotary. Our Rotary Club sponsors the beer garden at the festival. The money brought in funds our local community service projects.

Rotarian Stephen Nicholas has implemented programs that aim to eliminate pediatric HIV/AIDS in La Romana, Dominican Republic, where the woman and her four-year-old daughter featured in this photo received treatment.
Nicholas is a pediatric AIDS specialist who has helped to reduce infant HIV in New York City, and is now working to eliminate mother-to-child HIV transmission in the Dominican Republic.
Nicholas began a family AIDS clinic in La Romana, Dominican Republic in 1999, which is run by the International Family AIDS Program.

Wilson Kimeli Naiyomah returned home to Kenya months after witnessing the 9/11 attacks in New York City to find that most of his fellow Maasai, a nomadic warrior tribe, did not have a strong understanding of the horrific events that occurred that day.
Naiyomah, an incoming Rotary World Peace Fellow, shared his firsthand accounts with the East African tribe. The Maasai elders were deeply moved by his story, and felt compelled to do something to help.
