Community Events: Prefontaine Classic & Music in the Garden

This weekend, there’s lots to do around town… whether it’s taking in the essence of Track Town USA at the Prefontaine Classic or taking in the sights and sounds of beautiful gardens and beautiful music.

Prefontaine Classic

The Prefontaine Classic is the premiere track & field meet in the United States, and the only stop in North America on the prestigious World Athletics Tour. Since 2000, it has been ranked first among all annual track & field meets outside of Europe by the IAAF, the international governing body for the sport.

This year’s meet is on June 8th at the newly renovated Hayward Field.

Music in the Garden

The 11th annual fundraiser for the Eugene Symphony also takes place Sunday June 8th. This self-guided tour of seven private gardens includes live music, light refreshments, garden art and plant sales at various stops. Tickets are available at most local nurseries and garden centers.
