End of Life Care for Our Little Stars

Little Stars Pediatric Hospice helps and educates about end of life issues with children. The program takes a holistic approach to helping children and families by offering emotional, spiritual, and medical help for children ages zero to nineteen.

Services include twenty four hour palliative care/hospice nurse, flexible and individualized care plans, hands on instruction to assist and support family members in caring for the child, education on the changing needs of the child, specialized services that focus on symptoms and end of life comfort care, and many more.

Children who qualify includes, but is not limited to, children with neurodegenerative disorders, end stage cancers, AIDS, severe neuromuscular diseases, inoperable cardiac defects, severe congenital anomalies, and severe multisystem disorders. Three to five children are served a year. Little Stars’s goal is to expand so that care can be provided for all needs of the child and family atthe start of treatment. Little Stars is one of two organizations in Oregon that provides hospice, including in home, for children. Little Stars is part of Sacred Heart Medical Center.
