The Whole World is Watching: 2008 Olympic Trials

Kari Westlund, with the Convention and Visitors Association of Lane County Oregon (CVALCO), presented on Eugene ’08, the 2008 Olympic Trials that will be held in Eugene this summer.

Kari and CVALCO work to make Lane county a key visitor destination with the Eugene ’08 campaign. Eugene has a long track history and has hosted the Olympic Track Trials in 1972, 1976, and 1980. CVALCO promised precise execution for the meet, an athlete friendly environment, and the best track and field trial!

So far, 40,000 rooms have been booked for the trials with an economic value of $28 million. Donations amounting to $8.3 million for renovations to prepare for the Olympic Trials which will help to bring in other larger meets. Eugene ’08 Festival will connect people to the event and athletes at no charge. Everyone can come to the Festival and be part of Track Town, USA history! The Festival will include youth components and green efforts. For more informaton about the Olympic Track and Field Trials and the Festival, click here.
