Rotary International Launches Polio “Mini” Web Site

Rotary has launched a new “mini” Web site to give the general public an opportunity to help end polio by contributing to Rotary’s US$100 Million Challenge from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. View the three-page site at www.rotary.org/endpolio. The new site will be marketed throughout North America starting this month. All funds raised will go directly to The Rotary Foundation in support of polio eradication, helping Rotary fulfill its pledge to match the $100 million challenge grant received from the Gates Foundation in November 2007. Willamette Family

The Child Development Center Manager, Edith Young, gave a heart warming and encouraging presentation about some of the services provided by Willamette Family. There are 31 children in the center at any given time with an emphasis on treating babies. Last year there were 28 babies born clean and sober! Willamette Family is truly a community organization and works closely with other organizations; such as, Head Start, The Relief Nursery, and Pearl Buck, just to name a few. Pearl Buck Center: Learning, Growing, Changing

Ed McDunn, the Executive Director of the Pearl Buck Center, came to present at our March 20th meeting. Pearl Buck provides services to mentally disabled and their families. Pearl Buck offeres four main programs, including: Families with Special Needs Program, Production Workshop, Life Enhancing Program, and Community Employment Program. Pearl Buck does amazing work to enhance the lives and families through development and community development for individuals with mental disablities and their families.
